Monochrome and asymmetrical fabulous

WOW. What crazzzzy week it has been for me (month end & all !) However that's not to say that my mind hasn't been on shopping...or clothes...or runways...constantly!

I am in love with the beautiful simplicity that monotones and asymmetrical hem lines give to an outfit (as much as I love bright bold prints actually - watch for posts in the near future!). In fact, I have been lusting over several pieces I've seen online and using them as inspiration for this post's outfit.

My new fact for the day: Monotone doesn't refer to black and white. As the name would suggest, it's one colour in several tones.

I also want to make the comment that on top of being in love with asymmetrical hem lines & monotones - I am also obsessed with perspex! So I am once again wearing my beloved Jefferey Campbell Soiree heels & with a perspex box clutch that DIM (Did it myself...? DIY??!! Haha). With the clutch, I decided to use Monya's lips purse because I thought it was chic and cheeky and so perfect for this outfit!

One thing I don't love is crappy overcast weather and grainy photos! SO ANNOYING!

Anyway, until next time! Hope you enjoyed this post & THANK YOU for reading.

Uneven hem lines with some neon pop

This post's outfit takes a page of the trends that have been popping up lately: uneven hemlines, biker jackets with a splash of yellow. I love this outfit because it works with transitional weather (we're moving from Spring to Autumn here in Sydney) and it's all about the details of this outfit that make it.

I have to thank Becki of YouMeOui for giving this skirt to me. It is red, with beautiful layering with an uneven, asymmetric hemline. I am a fan!

What do you think of it?

My muscle tee was a DIY of my other half's tshirt worn backwards. I love how the print is at the back, and with the shoulders gives a little edge to an outfit which would otherwise be feminine.

Skirt: YouMeOui
Top: Freshjive ala boyfriend
Jacket: Levis
Necklace: Sheike
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Clutch: Love Moschino

Hope you enjoyed! Let me know what you think

P.S. Please keep an eye out for my gorgeous fellow blogger Jess of MindBodyShop next post as it will also feature an asymmetrical skirt. It's going to be her birthday really soon so also wish her an early happy birthday! XX

Reviving retro

I have always been a fan of many things vintage/retro and I absolutely love the fact that standout prints are one of the trends this year and that ASOS produced this matching cropped top and pencil skirt.

This little ensemble matches the vintage pair of sunnies I picked up 2 years ago and I can already see myself wearing these pieces as seperates - as you know I love mixing up my clothes!

Outfit - ASOS
Sunglasses - unknown, vintage
Shoes - Wedges by PeepToe
Lipstick - NARS

These photos were taken during my most recent holiday in Malaysia which means I got to enjoy an extended summer, extra sunshine (seriously photographer & I were  sweating like crazy for these photos!!! hehe) and a chance to wear this cute as outfit before Sydney reaches spring / summer in several months time.

I am a little bit glad I did take these photos overseas ...I think I would've been too shy and embarrassed to do the same in Sydney - all the people watching! gahhh

How to wear a statement necklace: keeping it simple

Often what girls think is "but how do I wear this necklace...and with what?" Then necklaces like this gorgeous one below get put away never to be worn again ever.

I love to shop and I do have an excessive collection of everything, but I hate to waste money -so I do repeat clothes and wear what I have as much as I can.

So I hope that in addition to my previous 2 posts, this helps you all see it is very possible to wear this necklace is many ways. My outfits have been (and will usually be in the future) quite simple to give the necklace some attention.

Top -
Shorts -
Shoes - Nude Footwear
Necklace - PeepToe

I hope that my posts on the statement necklace have helped and changed at least someone's mind.

I did choose the PeepToe woven chain necklace because whilst it is so beautiful it is quite a "busy" necklace, with lots going on and therefore can be one of the hardest for anyone to imagine wearing.

Lastly, I want to thank every single one of my followers and readers for supporting me so far. It really means a lot to me!

Swings and statement necklaces

Outfit #2 - I think this is probably more of what anyone would expect to wear with a statement necklace... I just had to do this post because it is a

  • Savvy outfit: total cost was $45 from ASOS both the top and maxi skirt were onsale
  • I am in love with the skirt and want to wear it as many ways and times as possible... (yes I am a firm believer in repeat clothing!)

Skirt - ASOS
Top - ASOS
Shoes - Siren
Necklace - PeepToe

I chose a playground for this outfit because... well I'm not sure. I think I liked the idea of including some juxtaposition and in my mind the skirt would work well on swings.

As you can see this necklace is different to the prior post (just goes to show how much I love these!), there really is no reason for this I just thought it would go with the outfit :)

I hope the statement necklace worked as well for you as it did for me in this post!

Dressing it up with a statement necklace

Hi fellow readers!

Here is part 1 of how I wear my statement necklaces - I make a point of not showing my necklace in the first 2 photos for you to get an idea of  how casual my outfit actually is.

I truly believe that gorgeous pieces of jewellery like this lovely PeepToe woven chain necklace in turquiose really dresses up an outfit and when worn with confidence, becomes that little more edgy. It turns an ordinary pair of trousers and t-shirts into something you'd be able to wear to a sunday lunch without looking drab.

Top - IndiC
Pants - ASOS
Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell
Necklace - PeepToe

can't emphasise how much I love statement jewellery - especially the PeepToe woven chain necklace ahhh!

I'll be back with more outfit posts with this necklace. Hope you like what you've seen so far!
